2023 Community Events

In addition to presenting world-class concerts, Under the Spire Music Festival is committed to fostering a sense of togetherness through a series of community events, such as songwriting workshops, masterclasses, and more.

Open House- June 10th @ 1pm

Join us for our annual Open House where we host a concert for community members and invite everyone out to explore Historic St. Mary’s for our summer opening. We will have our infamous strawberry shortcake, other snacks and beverages on sale in our Pavilion and Lovely Nelly will be spinning reels from 1pm-3pm in our hall.

Family-friendly event and free to attend!

Choral Fundraiser & Strawberry Social- June 18th @ 3pm

After a long four years, Spire Choir will return to the St. Mary’s stage! Under the direction of Kelsea McLean, and in partnership with the Sirens Choral Association, Spire Choir is our community choral collaboration. We are so pleased to be joined by the Arioso Chorus and the Summerside Community Choir for the concert on June 18th. Join us for an afternoon of choral music and afterwards with some strawberry shortcake on the front lawn!

Admission is Pay-What-You-Can/by donation with all proceeds going towards future restoration projects at Historic St. Mary’s

Pride Ceilidh- July 25th @ 7:30pm

It’s Pride Week on PEI and we are thrilled to be part of the week’s activities. Partnering with Pride PEI and PEERS Alliance, this free, all-ages and sober event will feature some of PEI’s finest queer performers with music, dancing, drag, spoken word, and more!

Transportation provided from Charlottetown to St. Mary’s and back. Limited to 22 seats so email to reserve your spot if you would like to take advantage of this opportunity!

Open Stage- July 22nd @ 1pm

Our ever-popular Open Stage is making a return this summer!
Ever dreamt of performing on stage at Historic St. Mary’s? On July 22nd from 1pm-3pm, we are opening our doors in order for you to realize just that dream! We will supply 1-2 microphones, our grand piano, and drinks and snacks from our pavilion so you just need to bring your awesome talent.
Bring a guitar, fiddle, sax, banjo, or simply your own voice! Perform one to two selections, meet local artists, and support other musicians in an acoustically magical setting.

Avez-vous déjà rêvé de vous produire sur la scène de l’église historique St. Mary ? Le 22 juillet de 13h à 15h, nous ouvrons les portes afin de vous offrir l’opportunité de réaliser votre rêve !
Amenez votre guitare, violon, saxophone, banjo ou simplement votre voix ! Vous pourrez interpréter un morceau ou deux, rencontrer les artistes locaux et soutenir d’autres artistes dans un cadre acoustique magique.

Admission is free and open to all ages!

Acadian Traditions Ceilidh- August 19th @ 7:30pm

Cinq jours après la Journée nationale des Acadiens, l’USMF s’associe au Musée Acadien, à Acadie IPÉ et à la Fédération Culturelle de l’ÎPE pour ce concert spécial célébrant les merveilleux artistes franco-acadiens qui vivent dans cette île. Joignez-vous à nous pour un après-midi de grande musique et de contes !

Five days after National Acadian day, USMF is partnering with Le Musee Acadien, Acadie IPÉ, and La Belle Alliance for this special concert celebrating the wonderful Franco-Acadian performers who call this Island home. Join us for an afternoon of great music and storytelling !
