Sirens presents Spark! June 24, 2023
Named for the singing femmes fatales of Greek mythology, Sirens is an award-winning women’s choral ensemble that fosters a professional artistic environment and the development of choral music on Prince Edward Island, Canada. Under the artistic direction of Kelsea McLean, the group has developed a strong following of supporters and has been lauded for its pure tone quality, sensitive musicality and precision as an ensemble.
Following the release of their debut album, Boundless, in November 2020, Sirens has been elevated in popularity across the country, being featured on CBC’s choral concert several times and winning a PEI Music Award for Classical Recording of the Year. In past seasons, Sirens has been featured at the renowned Indian River Festival, alongside the PEI Symphony and the UPEI Department of Music Recital Series. Most recently Sirens gained national recognition while representing Prince Edward Island at Podium, Canada’s national choral conference, in St John’s Newfoundland.
The ensemble has collaborated with singer-songwriter Meaghan Blanchard, soprano Tracy Cantin, pianist Robert Kortgaard, violinist Sean Kemp, string quintet The Atlantic String Machine and the nationally award-winning Halifax Camerata Singers.
