Dear Friends,
It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the cancellation of the 2020 edition of the Indian River Festival.
We have not come to this decision lightly. In fact, this year was particularly meaningful as we were celebrating our 25th season of creating magical musical memories. However, our number one priority is the health and safety of our community including our staff, patrons, artists, volunteers, donors and supporters. An event like ours that features large ensembles and a large number of Canadian and International artists, requires a lot of lead time to plan. With so much uncertainty in the world and the situation changing daily, it is in the best interest of our community, as well as the long-term stability of the Indian River Festival, to cancel the 2020 season.
This is a heartbreaking decision as we had looked so forward to celebrating with you and bringing our community together for what would have been an incredible season. We are committed to bringing performances back to Historic St. Mary’s as soon as it is deemed safe to do so by our federal and provincial authorities. In the meantime, we’ll be working diligently from home planning our triumphant return. We will continue to stay in touch through our newsletters and social media. We have 24 years worth of festival memories to share with you and look forward to doing so in the hopes this brings some love and light your way.
We are so grateful for all your support and patience during this unprecedented time. We urge you to take the advice of your local authorities and wish everyone the best of health and a smooth journey through these trying times. We look forward to the next time we are together under the magnificent roof of Historic St. Mary’s.
On behalf of all of us at the Indian River Festival,
Robert & Kate
