Dean Perry’s IRF Mixtape

June 12, 2020 by Noelle Pettipas
IRF MIXTAPES

This time last year we were only a few short days away from kicking off the 2019 Indian River Festival. As much as we’d love to see you all in person, we know that isn’t feasible this year. While nothing can beat the legendary acoustics of historic St. Mary’s, we hope we can at least capture the spirit of the festival with our new playlist series, #IRFMixTape!

Each week, we will share a Spotify playlist individually curated by an IRF team member, performer, or patron. Whether you want to close your eyes and be transported back to our beautiful venue, or simply put it on in the background while you do the dishes, we hope these playlists will help bring a little music magic to your day. Our first playlist comes to you from Indian River Festival Board Member Dean Perry. Here’s a note from Dean:

“Some music and musicians that I love, including some favourites who have performed at Indian River Festival (Brett Polegato, Mark Fewer, & Hank Knox, Catherine MacLellan, Suzie LeBlanc), other wonderful Canadian artists (Gerald Finley, Dan Mangan, Maureen Forrester) and some longtime favourites (my teacher’s teacher, Healey Willan, magnificent sopranos Leontyne Price, Kathleen Battle, and Dawn Upshaw). There are a couple of sublimely beautiful choral selections, too. Find a comfortable chair and enjoy some familiar music and some new discoveries.”
