I’m missing my Indian River Festival family of friends so much. It is the first summer in 24 years that I haven’t come to our cherished venue for live music and the beauty of the surrounding countryside. I still can’t quite believe that we had to cancel the wonderful season that we had planned.
But there can be comfort from music that is meaningful and in some way speaks to me of IRF and PEI and Canada. The iconic voices of Anne Murray and Joni Mitchell. My lovely friends who have set the rafters to ringing at IRF: Patricia O’Callaghan, Rebecca Caine and Adrianne Pieczonka. A nod to Carmina Burana, which, alas, would have been one of the exciting pieces programmed for this summer. Plus a few classical gems that I love. And if Vera Lynn (bless her heart) singing the last piece brings a tear to your eye, it just means you miss the IRF we’ve come to know and love as much as I do…. but, well, we’ll meet again! Enjoy! Stay well everyone. -Robert
