Island Proud with Emilea May
Emilea May takes the stage for our final Island Proud show August 28th at 7:30pm! Welcome to Island Proud, where we’ll present the best in PEI talent and hospitality. Island Proud features a 45 minute concert followed by a reception in the pavilion with the artist and food from a local restaurant! The reception will be catered by Knead a Brake bakery.
Emilea May is a Prince Edward Island based songstress known for crafting music that serves as a catalyst for healing and growth through raw expression. With her dreamy vocals and honest lyrics that cut to the core, her music provokes deep-feeling and introspection. Drawing inspiration from artists like Lizzy McAlpine and Madison Cunningham, she weaves tales inspired by the mysteries of creation, the intricacies of human connection and the transformative journey of motherhood. Her forthcoming debut album “Unwreck Me” has an indie/pop/rock feel and delves deep into heartache, heaviness, and holding onto hope. In her short time performing live, she has shared the stage with artists such as Basia Bulat, Catherine MacLellan & The East Pointers
Morgan Toney
In just a short amount of time, Morgan Toney’s been able to invigorate both the Atlantic music communities and Mi’kmaq communities by bringing together the fiery fiddling of Cape Breton Island with the old songs of the Mi’kmaq, one song dating back up to 500 years. He calls this fusion Mi’kmaltic (Mi’kmaq + Celtic) and it’s his way of celebrating his language and heritage. Toney’s shows are full of both Mi’kmaq and Cape Bretoners reveling in a shared culture, and he’s created a new sound that bridges two worlds, drawing a sense of pure love from both.
Join Morgan on August 30th at 7:30PM to experience his fusion of Mi’kmaltic and see why this young musician is making waves on the music scene
