On August 25th at 7:30PM: Natural-born performer Irish Mythen hails from Ireland, but now resides in PEI. Irish’s folk and roots based music began to develop further when working on PEI, about which she said: “This Island creates music and musicians, art and artists. I found a shift to take things more seriously when I moved here.” Irish’s 2019 release ‘Little Bones’ attracted attention on an international level. This album resulted in a nomination for JUNO’s 2020 Contemporary Roots Album of the Year and seven MusicPEI nominations in 2020. Irish won two MusicPEI awards and also took home Solo Artist of the Year for the 2020 edition of the Canadian Folk Music Awards.
On August 27th at 3:00PM: You haven’t seen classical guitar like this! Internationally-lauded duo Adam Cicchillitti and Steve Cowan are reimagining classical guitar repertoire – transporting the classical harp and piano works of Debussy and Ravel into guitar melodies, a fitting contrast to the many original guitar pieces they have commissioned and premiered by Canadian composers. They have set a new standard in the world of classical guitar with their award-winning recordings, commissions of major orchestral works, and competition performances. Their debut duo album, FOCUS, won Classical Recording of the Year at the 2021 East Coast Music Awards. Their 2021 album, INTIMATE IMPRESSIONS features original arrangements of piano, harp, and guitar music from 20th century Paris – this album has been streamed over one million times worldwide. Cowan and Cicchillitti toured Canada under the auspices of Prairie Debut in 2020-2022 and also with Debut Atlantic in 2018. They were awarded third prize at the 2021 international ensemble competition of the Guitar Foundation of America, arguably the most prestigious guitar ensemble competition in the world.
