Kensington, PE – The Indian River Festival announces artists for its 2018 summer season!

The Festival, now in it’s 23rd year includes the best in folk, jazz, blues, roots, classical, choral, traditional, contemporary music all in the acoustically perfect Historic St. Marys Church, Indian River, Prince Edward Island.

The lineup of artists for 2018 Indian River Festival summer season includes: Sarah Slean with the Atlantic String Machine, Michael Kaeshammer, The Sirens, Lennie Gallant, Amanda Jackson, Mike Biggar, Payadora Tango Ensemble, Chris Norman, Trio Tangere, Justin Nozuka, The Sweet Lowdown, Marc Djokic & Isabel Bayrakdarian, Dave Carroll, Dennis & Kinley, The Ennis Sisters, Alicia Toner, Hillsburn, Ensemble Made in Canada, Nick Donneff, Meaghan Blanchard and more!

“We are proud to present another incredible lineup of talent in our beautiful venue.“ says Robert Kortgaard, Artistic Director of the Festival. “Come join us this summer in a most magical place we know as Historic St. Marys and let the wonders of a live music experience transport you”.All summer concerts takes place in St. Marys’ Church on Hamilton Road in Indian River and doors open one hour prior to concert time and everyone is encouraged to arrive early, enjoy a drink and conversation in the pavilion, then relax and find out why everyone says Music Breathes Here!

The Festival has received many accolades throughout the years including a Music PEI Award for Achievement in Classical Music, several ECMA nominations for event and venue of the year, twice named in the Globe and Mail as one of the best small summer classical music festivals in
Canada, and most recently, it was listed as one of the top summer classical music festival’s in Canada by CBC Music. It should be noted that Artistic Director, Robert Kortgaard will be celebrating his 20th year with the festival this year.

The season will start with a special open house on Friday, June 8th at 1pm, which is FREE and available to the community to attend and will also hold several open stage events for performers wishing to have the opportunity to grace the stage in Historic St. Mary’s Church.

“We want the entire island community to come and enjoy music and food and be one of the first few to step foot inside beautiful Historic St. Marys before the season starts” said Don Quarles, Executive Director of the Festival. “We will have some special surprises for you this season and hope you put our summer schedule it in your calendar”.
