IRF Mixtape – Atlantic String Machine Edition

August 20, 2020 by Noelle Pettipas

The Atlantic String Machine is having a summer off, something that feels very unusual and, at times, liberating! We have more time to enjoy our gardens and our newly built decks (we are discovering our talents for construction) but we are really missing performing live for audiences and we can’t wait until we can do it again soon. Livestreams just don’t measure up to the amazing feedback that you get from having real live people in the same room with you!

We have spent the spring and summer months creating some new music videos. Some were created completely in isolation, with us recording the music and videos in our homes and putting it all together… other videos have been put together with music we recorded on our last album, ‘The Bayfield Sessions‘. If you need some amusement, check out our YouTube channel for more. We are keeping our fingers crossed for concerts in the fall, as we have some exciting ideas and plans to put in motion. Stay tuned to our social media feeds to find out more soon.

We really enjoyed putting this playlist together for the IRF Mixtapes! Our playlist reflects each individual player, as it includes some music that we have performed but also could be just something that we happen to have spinning in our kitchen. As you listen, you can play the game of ‘which ASM member picked this’ – some are obvious, some not so much! You might notice that there are two songs by Sarah Slean included in the playlist; we have VERY fond memories of playing on the Indian River Festival stage with Sarah a few summers ago. If you might be concerned that this playlist is entirely classical, fear not! Our repertoire tends to be eclectic and this playlist continues in that vein. I think we all discovered something new that another member shared so we will be spinning this playlist on our own Spotify streams as well!

Until we meet again, Indian River Festival staff, audience and supporters… stay safe, stay well, stay healthy and we will see you as soon as we possibly can!

All the best,
Sean, Karen, Jeffrey, Natalie & Adam
