PEI Legion Choir: “Edges of the Mosaic” with Terry Kelly — Final Performance
The PEI Legion Choir will present Edges of the Mosaic for its final performance on July 5 at 2:00 PM at the Under the Spire Festival in Indian River, featuring acclaimed Canadian singer-songwriter Terry Kelly.
This concert marks the final opportunity to experience Edges of the Mosaic, a program that brings together choral music and storytelling to explore themes of identity, resilience, service, and belonging. A central thread of the program reflects on the experience of service members and veterans, particularly those who have served while navigating the challenges of being “the first” or “the only” within their units.
We are honoured to present and sing with Terry Kelly, a Canadian icon. Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Terry is one of eight children. He lost sight in both eyes before the age of two and a half due to retinoblastoma and later attended the Halifax School for the Blind for several years.
As a professional speaker, Terry encourages audiences to “see in their mind”—to understand how they see themselves, others, and the world. He often shares the belief that “being blind in your mind is more debilitating than being blind in your eyes.”
Terry Kelly is widely recognized as an accomplished athlete, award-winning singer-songwriter, entertainer, and speaker. In 2003, he was appointed to the Order of Canada, the country’s highest civilian honour. He has released seven full-length recordings, earning seven East Coast Music Awards, four Canadian Country Music Awards, and a Juno Award. His music has taken him across Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, and he has performed for Canadian troops in Afghanistan.
He is perhaps most widely known for his powerful and inspirational song A Pittance of Time, a work that continues to resonate deeply as a reflection on remembrance and respect. We are honoured, excited, humbled, and grateful to share this piece of music with him in this final performance.
This final presentation of Edges of the Mosaic brings together the PEI Legion Choir and Terry Kelly in a unique collaboration that unites choral music and iconic Canadian songwriting at the Under the Spire Festival. Together, they offer an afternoon of reflection and connection, honouring the diverse voices that shape Canada and the shared experiences that bind them together.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for veterans and Legion members, and $5 for school-aged children.
