Alicia Toner presents… (Inner)Life is Beautiful
On July 27th, we are delighted to host an array of talent at Historic St. Mary’s! Curated by Under the Spire’s Artist in Residence Alicia Toner, this performance will feature multiple PEI songwriters, live painting, and more through the theme of inner life. Original music will be composed specifically for the concert, and it will feature collaborations between all artists involved.
Guest artists for this event include KINLEY, Meaghan Blanchard, and Emilea May. We will also be welcoming Emily Howard Art to our space, who will be completing a live painting of the show! This one-of-a-kind, interdisciplinary show is going to be a touching and intimate evening for the artists and audience members alike.
You may recognize Alicia Toner as a previous performer at Under the Spire, whether as a solo artist, sharing her songwriting experiences, or as the creator of our sold-out “Sundown: The Songs of Gordon Lightfoot” show from last year.

Duel by Pallade Musica
An incredible weekend of music continues on July 28th. “Duel” features two star violinists of the new generation: Tanya LaPerrière and Julie Rivest. Alongside violist Margaret Little and harpsichordist Dorothea Ventura, they will perform energetic and virtuoso sonatas for two violins in scordatura by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber and intimate fantasies by Georg Philipp Telemann.
Pallade Musica (Music of Athena) brings together some of the finest musicians on the Montreal Baroque scene. Co-directed by Tanya LaPerrière, violin, and Vincent Lauzer, recorder, the ensemble stands out for its interpretations, based on research and exploration, recognized as expressive and elegant, and praised by critics as “spectacular virtuosity” (Tom Strini Blog) and “formidable sense of ensemble” (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel).
