Under the Spire is seeking an Event Assistant to join our small and busy team. This position will support the Director of Operations in planning and executing events at our venue including weddings rentals, corporate meeting rentals, our regular concert series and special 30th Anniversary events. The contract period for this position is April 8th – November 14th 2025.
The successful applicant will have a wide range of responsibilities and activities including:
· Coordinating logistics with event vendors
· Managing logistics, including set-up and tear-down, cleaning event spaces and running errands and other event day tasks (i.e. bartending and event support).
· Communicating with stakeholders and guests
· Elements of deskwork, including promoting the venue to the community and potential partners in various formats, and aiding in event preparation.
The successful candidate will be cross-managed and trained by other members of the team including the Executive Director and Pavilion Manager. This role offers the opportunity to grow and to develop a significant number of skills.
Job Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Candidate must be 19 years or older
- Applicant must currently be on EI, have recently been on EI, or be working part-time on EI to be eligible.
- Should posses high school diploma or equivalent
- Post-secondary training in hospitality or event management is an asset
- Flexibility to work outside of regular office hours, including evenings and weekends
- Please note that events take place at a rural venue without access to public transit, reliable transportation is necessary
Preferred Skills:
- Excellent communication skills or potential
- Customer-focused approach
Additional Job Notes:
- Experience with cash handling, working in customer service, hospitality, event planning or as a bartender will be considered an asset.
- The candidate must hold a valid certificate or be willing to be certified through the PEI Liquor Control Commissions Responsible Beverage Service Program.
- The candidate should be comfortable working with the public, well-organized, able to work independently, but maintain a focus on team success.
